Rhinoplasty is addressed to patients that are not satisfied with the size or the contour of their nose and those that their nose doesn’t fit their face and/or have respiratory problems. During this operation the nose can be straighten, its size and projection can be shorten and the nose-upper lip angle can be modified.
Procedure
Rhinoplasty is carried out under general anesthesia and the patient will stay in the clinic for one night. The operation is done through a small incision inside the nostrils and the surgeon will sculpt the bone and the cartilaginous structure in order to achieve the desirable result. If respiration is compromised, sinus surgery is performed in order to correct the airways. The operation lasts about one hour.
Convalescence
The following day, the patient is dismissed from the clinic. Swelling and hematomas around the eyes will surely be present and to avoid the formation of large ones we give instructions on how to use ice on the eyes for at least 24 hours. Nasal tampons will be removed 48 hours after surgery and the plaster after seven days. The patient must be covered with antibiotics to prevent infection. Return to normal activities is prevented after one week but every activity that can cause nose damage must be avoided for at least 2-3 months
